Review: "A Look Ahead"

October 23, 2024

On Thursday, October 17, the time had come: The experiment "Speculative Documentaries", produced in the BMBF Science Year, kicked off with the first event of the Film and Discourse series, focusing on 'Future Freedom of Mobility'.

A Status Assessment, Partly Fictional, Partly Documentary

In the short film "A Look Ahead," the Mobility Film Team at Merz Akademie undertakes a reflective assessment of the current stagnation in individual concepts of freedom shaped by personal transportation. The film suggests that one can rely on the car, as the beer remains cold in the trunk. Its fictional elements focus on a familiar scenario predominantly set in a "motionless" state: two young people sit on a sofa in 2024, pondering the future of mobility in 2049. They are uncertain—will anything ever change?
