Our society is facing significant ecological challenges that urgently need to be addressed. In this context, a sustainable transformation is not just important—it's essential. But how can such a monumental task be achieved? What role can science play in this process? And how can collaboration between science and society work in practice?
This presentation will explore the concept of transdisciplinary and transformative research, offering examples of how science and society can work together to drive sustainable change.
Marco Sonnberger is a sociologist and research associate in the Department of Sociology of Technology and the Environment at the University of Stuttgart. He is also an affiliated researcher at the Center for Interdisciplinary Risk and Innovation Studies (ZIRIUS).

About the Series
Young researchers from the University of Stuttgart present their research projects during lunch breaks in a relaxed, humorous, and easily understandable way for non-experts. Topics range from innovative façade technology for climate-resilient buildings, through exploring the quest for the perfect lullaby, to providing insights into the science of social transformation. After the presentations, there will be time for questions, discussion, and snacks. Feel free to bring your own sandwich. We will provide drinks and a sweet surprise
