A research team led by Prof. Dirk Pflüger is exploring the impact of music on sleep quality in a groundbreaking new study. To investigate this, participants use mobile EEG devices at home to collect sleep data while listening to music as they fall asleep. The project aims to compile a large, publicly accessible dataset through citizen science methods, allowing for an objective analysis of how lullabies affect sleep for the first time. Ultimately, the goal is to develop personalized lullabies tailored to each individual using machine learning techniques.
Jonathan Stumber, a research associate at the Institute for Parallel and Distributed Systems (IPVS) at the University of Stuttgart, is contributing to this innovative research.

About the Series
Young researchers from the University of Stuttgart present their research projects during lunch breaks in a relaxed, humorous, and easily understandable way for non-experts. Topics range from innovative façade technology for climate-resilient buildings, through exploring the quest for the perfect lullaby, to providing insights into the science of social transformation. After the presentations, there will be time for questions, discussion, and snacks. Feel free to bring your own sandwich. We will provide drinks and a sweet surprise.
Cooperation: Hospitalhof Stuttgart and the International Center for Cultural and Technological Studies (IZKT)
